Haters Going To Hate
I know that sounds sooo high school but the fact is it is true.
Yesterday, in my Facebook group I was dealing with an issue that I bet you’ve dealt with before.
I was dealing with haters and their unsolicited “advice”.
If you’re an entrepreneur and have at least shared your dream and ambitions with others, I’m sure you’d received some hate.
My thoughts are…
We deserve the hate.
We deserve everyone’s unwanted and unsolicited opinions and advice.
Why?
Because we’re the ones that are choosing to be different.
… and when someone does something different, the haters get maddddddd.
They want us stay on course.
Not veer off.
They want us to do what they do and have what they have (or a little less, ideally).
If you want to control your own destiny, write your own paycheck, and live life on your own terms, then you’re trying to do something that 99.5% of the population wishes they could do — but won’t.
So, in that case — they are forced to hate on you (it’s human nature).
They’re forced to say things like:
“good luck with that”
“I hope it works out for you”
“I could never do that”
“how’s your little business doing?”
… and stuff like that.
They’ll try to tell you about “bigger” entrepreneurs that they “know” and tell you how great they’re doing (which is just a little sneaky way to try to put you down).
They’ll insinuate that you’re “all about money” and tell you about how they love their commute, would never be able to work from home, or could never “move away from family”.
If you haven’t dealt with any of this, just wait — it will come.
If you’re telling others “good luck with that” and “I hope it works out for you”, then sorry (actually, I’m not) for offending you. I’m sure you mean well but this game is just not for you.
So, if you’re dealing with hate from others just know that it’s a good sign.
… and as my mentor says, if you’re afraid of the haters, send them to me — I can always use some more!
The more success you have the more haters will appear.
Keep going.
Keep pushing,
Keep trying.
Keep failing.
That’s what the game of entreprenuership is all about.
It’s not about how many times you win … it’s about how many times you lose and get back up.
Have a great day and go out and pick up at least one new hater for me!
